If you register yourself on any iDoctor website, within the Network for Medical Professionals, e.g. this website, this which is always voluntarily, you are required to fill in certain data fields and to choose a username and password. With this registration your identity will be disclosed to iDoctor. The term “Personal details” in this statement refers to information that can be used for your identification, such as your name, workplace, area of interest BIG-number and e-mail address. Registration is required to attend this website and to be sure of the fact that you are a registered medical professional. We point out that if you decide to withhold certain required personal details, this will only effect the completeness of your personal profile, not the accessibility of our websites.
Your personal details will only be used for the purpose for which you submitted them, just as for purposes of analysis in behalf of limited statistical purposes and to comply with legal obligations. Furthermore, we point out that if you agreed to receive our e-mail newsletters, iDoctor can send you non-binding information in the form of e-mailnewsletters. Should you however chose not to receive the e-mail newsletter any more, you can easily unsubscribe from these newsletters by clicking the unsubscribe button in each newsletter at anytime.
From that moment on, you will not receive any e-mail newsletters until you wish to receive them again. To activate receiving our e-mail newsletters again, you can send an e-mail to email@example.com, or click on the ’Yes, I want to receive free monthly updates’ ticker box, located in the footer on each webpage.
When processing your personal details, iDoctor will fully comply with the new GDPR, starting May 25th. In accordance with the new GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)/AVG, iDoctor will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal details against loss or any form of unlawful processing. iDoctor supervises that these measures guarantee an appropriate security level taking into account the state of the art and the costs of implementation, also considering the risks involved with the processing and nature of the details to be protected. De measures also intend to prevent unnecessary collection and further processing of personal details.
However, all information we receive, is processed by you and you can change your personal profile by clicking on your ‘Avatar’ to be able to change your personal data, visible on our website(s). This also counts for your editorial submissions, which can be added to your profile by clicking the ‘Share Knowledge’ buttons.
You may at any time examine your personal details as processed by iDoctor. Should this information be incorrect, you may request to have it adjusted. iDoctor website use functional cookies to be able to login easily. Cookies are very small text files that are stored on your computer and will be used to collect certain information regarding your visit to our website. Cookies cannot harm your computer nor the files on your computer. With the help of session cookies we can see which articles on the website have been reviewed during your visit. These cookies will be removed as soon as you close your browser. You may disable any cookies via your browser, but these may stop our website from functioning properly.
We also make use of the service Google Analytics by Google, Inc., United States of America. In the context of this service Google collects non personaltraffic data (surf behaviour) and places cookies on your computer. iDoctor can online inspect the user statistics that Google produces based on this data. These statistics help iDoctor to improve its website and service. iDoctor has concluded a Data Processing Agreement with Google. Google will remove (anonymise) the last four digits of your IP-address. We have not allowed Google to use the obtained analytics information for its own benefit or to share it with third parties. We do not use any other Google-services in connection with the Google Analytics-cookies. We only use tracking cookies, to be able to analyse general traffic on our websites. We have secured our websites with SLL (Secure Socket Layer)certificates and hosting is being done by a professional party. Sentiais certified for hosting (ISAE 3402, NEN 7510 and ISO 27001).
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your User ID and password which relate to your access iDoctor websites and/or any account you set up with us. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities which occur in relation to the same. You should not permit other people to use your User ID or your password. Please contact us promptly if you believe your User ID or password may have been compromised. We will not be responsible to you if there is unauthorized access to your login details or unauthorized activity on the Service as a result of your login details becoming known by someone else, unless this was due to our negligence.
Despite our efforts regarding security it is important to bear in mind that the internet is not a secure means of communication. personal information communicated through the internet may be intercepted by other people. We cannot guarantee the security of personal information sent to us through the Service. You accept that you use the Service at your own risk.
Storage of personal information
The Personal information that iDoctor collects from you and that you provide to iDoctor is processed in the Netherlands and is stored on servers in the Netherlands. The Dutch Personal information Protection and Electronic Documentation Act has been deemed to provide adequate and similar protection to that which applies within the European Economic Area.
You are entitled to exercise the following rights free of charge to:
- require information about whether your personal information is retained and access to your personal information retained, including the purposes of the processing, the categories of personal information concerned, and the recipients or categories of recipients to whom the personal information is disclosed and where possible, the envisaged period for which the personal information will be stored, or, if not possible, the criteria used to determine that period;
- request proper rectification, removal, or restriction of your personal information, if this is not possible by changing the information in your personal Profile and content submissions;

- You have the right to object the processing of your personal information;
- not to be subject to any automatic individual decisions (automatic decisions based on data processing by automatic means, for the purpose of assessing several personal aspects) which produce legal effects on you or similarly significantly affect you.
